A native Californian, Alexander Wang was born and raised in San Francisco. At the age of 18, he moved to New York where he attended Parsons School of Design and partook in a variety of internships. By his sophmore year, Alexander was already designing the first collection of his own label Alexander Wang, which in 2005, was predominantly knits. He launched his full womens collection in 2007, selling to over 200 stores. In 2008, Alexander received top honors as the recipient of the Vogue/CDFA Fashion Fund. In 2009, he was recognized by his peers when he was announced as the winner of the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year. Later that year he was the recipient of the Swiss Textiles Award. Alexander currently resides in Manhattan, New York which is also the home to his design studio and first flagship store.
